CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

May 15, 2020

Dear Project WET Community,

Arizona Project WET (APW) is committed to the safety and security of our entire network. As part of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension we have received a directive from Cooperative Extension Dr. Silvertooth to postpone or cancel all Extension in-person programming until further notice. Although Arizona Project WET will not be conducting in-person direct student outreach, our team is committed to finding meaningful ways to serve teachers and bring water education to virtual classrooms.

Teachers currently have access to the following programs:

  • Arizona Water Festival Virtual Event: The Arizona Water Festival curriculum unit is available online for teachers to use with their students immediately. In addition, APW released the Arizona Water Festival Virtual Event! in which anyone can learn about Groundwater, Watersheds, Water Cycle and Water Conservation Technology through interactive videos and online activities.
  • Water Scene Investigation at Home: We have move this awesome program online! APW is offering families the opportunity to stay healthy and save water by investigating the water usage in their home. Anyone can be a water detective and receive FREE water efficient aerators for their home. The Water Scene Investigation inspires families to adopt home water conservation practices in order to protect Arizona's precious resource.
  • Summer Professional Development: Arizona Project WEt will be providing interactive online workshops and academies. Check out "Teacher PD" tab for more info.

Our team of over 20 staff, AmeriCorps members and UA student Assistant is busy developing creative ideas and pooling individual skills to develop resources that can help teachers and parents deliver effective learning components. Please feel free to reach out to the Program Coordinator if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your understanding and partnership. Please continue to check back regularly for new program updates.
