Tucson AmeriCorps Water Educator Program
Delivering quality water education programs to Tucson's K-12 students since 2013.
Who Are We?
Since 2013, our AmeriCorps Water Educators work hard to deliver our water education program to local K-12 schools. This year, our Water Educators make up a vibrant, creative team working to deliver water education throughout Tucson as the educational landscape changes this year due to COVID-19. Our team is passionate about education, eager to learn, and looks forward to sharing a love of science with kids.
What Do We Do?
Our Water Educators teach students about groundwater, water conservation, watersheds, and the water cycle through a variety of hands-on, inquiry-based lessons. They have led in-person field trips and classroom presentations, now virtual for 2020-21. This year, our Water Educators are also developing digital products and presentations, reaching out to support teachers who are learning to teach digitally, and imagining new ways to communicate about water.
What Are the Benefits?
AmeriCorps members receive a bi-weekly living stipend and an educational award at the completion of their service. This award can go towards any educational expense, including tuition and supplies. Members also have the opportunity connection with the AmeriCorps and UA Wildcat Corps network. Our Water Educator positions are also eligible for various course-credit and internship opportunities.
How Do I Join?
Our team hires a new team of AmeriCorps Water Educators every school year. We normally begin the hiring process in the summer, so be sure to stay tuned for opportunities next year!
